Lisa Dixon–Wells

Lisa Dixon–Wells has been working in school systems across Western Canada since 1990.
After completing her M.Ed in Educational Psychology (1997), Lisa’s focus has been on
Comprehensive Guidance and Bully Prevention. As the creator of the Dare to Care program,
her work has focused on early prevention and intervention in elementary and junior high
schools. Through professional development, parent information nights, and classroom facilitation
(including assemblies, student forums, and role playing), Lisa has helped over 200 schools create
and maintain safe and caring school environments.
As well as her expertise in the area of bullying, discipline and community building, Lisa has
assisted schools in the development of clear and concise school discipline policies. Lisa is
also a facilitator for Brain Gym, a program of physical activities that enhances learning ability.
Dwayne Peace

Dwayne Peace is a retired 25–year member of the Calgary Police Service where he spent the
last seven years of his career as a School Resource Officer (SRO). Dwayne has a special
talent for working with youth, and a passion for helping to make a difference in their lives.
Requests for his dynamic presentations have come from schools, parent groups, community
organizations, corporations, and universities. Dwayne is the co–founder of the Alberta
Association of School Resource Officers (AASRO) established in 1998 and is the current Past President.
Dwayne’s Life Skills program cause his audience to think about the power of their words and actions.
Much of his work has been in a proactive role with students, assisting in making smart choices in
their lives through the use of his many presentations.
Kim Edwards

Kim Edwards (B.Ed.) has been teaching in both public and private school systems
in Alberta since 1990. Having a degree in Special Education, she is constantly
striving to teach children self–advocacy skills and stronger communication skills.
Working with Learning Disabled students, she is accustomed to individually tailoring
programming and dealing with peer social issues, such as bullying, within the larger
school population. Kim appreciates the connected roles of student, parents and staff
in creating a positive, safe, learning environment in our schools.
Kim is trained in a number of alternative programs, notably, Auditory Discrimination
in Depth (A.D.D.) which is a kinaesthetic approach to reading, spelling and writing,
and Chisanbop, also a kinaesthetic strategy for math skills. She fills leadership roles
in several Community groups.
Mike Hanlon

Mike Hanlon (B.P.E / B.Ed.) is a former police officer from New Brunswick with New Brunswick Highway Patrol. For the past 18 years Mike has worked as a teacher, school counselor and School administrator principal and vice principal in several Alberta communities both within the separate and public school systems.
A graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Universite Sainte–Anne and with Graduate course work in Counseling Psychology from City University and drawing from his varied backgrounds Mike provides a comprehensive body of experiences that are reflected in his presentation style. Mike’s school experience is primarily in the middle school high schools and his approach to facilitation is based on a student centered model. Mike has worked extensively in aboriginal and northern communities in Alberta.
Mike is a strong believer in the potential of youth to make positive choices when provided with factual information presented in a form that is relevant and current.
